Happy New Year!
2008 was the inaugural year for Carley Schaffer Photography, and what a year it has been. I’ve had the wonderful fortune of meeting and photographing so many new people. It has been nothing but pure joy, and I am so looking forward to 2009 and being able to capture beautiful images for my clients, family and friends.
I had the fortune to photograph a stunningly beautiful six month old baby girl on the very last day of 2008. I am just now making my way through the images, and we were able to capture so many amazing shots that culling them down has been an arduous task. I promised her Mommy I would get a few sneak peeks up on the blog, and without further ado, I present to you Little Miss J and her giant brown eyes, resplendent in her sweetness.

Just precious!
This sweet little almost-2-year-old princess is ready for the Holidays! I can’t even describe what a sweetheart Miss A is! The minute I arrived at her home, she took me by the hand and showed me all around, showed me her toys, her special snack cabinet. She was Little Miss Social Butterfly! We had such a wonderful session, and being that Miss A’s Mommy and Daddy are old, dear friends of our family that we hadn’t seen in quite awhile, it was such a joy to be able to meet her and reconnect with them after such a long time.

What usually happens with children this age is shyness prevails, and photogs have to have several tricks up our sleeves to help the child feel comfortable with us and our camera. In a big scary studio, this is even more difficult. However, having a session in your home or at another location where a toddler is comfortable is truly where the benefit of on-location portraiture is recognized. The proof is in the pictures, I say!
